Hey everyone, I recently just got my GED and would like to know what the best way to be be an RN. I'm pretty confused as to what classes to take or do I just need to get in to a pre-nursing program then a RN program? Do I need pre-reqs classes to get in to a pre-nursing program? I'm sorry but it's all very confusing to me. I also live in the bay area if anyone can recommend any schools.
Thank you in advance.

In my opinion, you would go about it the same way as everyone else would, community college is cheapest, or university, whichever you prefer. I say community college because you have quite a few pre requisites to complete. You would simply enroll with a nursing major, and proceed to take all the classes required before you can apply to the program: english, math, sciences, etc etc...I personally went with the Lpn route first, 18 month program, and I plan to bridge to the RN program immediately after I graduate, while I am able to work and make a little bit of money...You have lots of options. Just decide what you can do financially, physically, mentally, if you can be fulltime or parttime, all of those things, and then way out your options....Good Luck

yes like the above post you have to do prenursing which is your prereqs and then you can apply to be in a nursing program if there is a college around you that you would like to attend that has a nursing program i would suggest talking to an advisor there

First you would decide if you want to do an LPN or RN program. Go to an advisor and get advise on what prereqs to take, all schools have different prereq requirements. You also have to get accepted to that college, then once your prereqs are complete then you can apply and get accepted to the nursing program. Also some schools do placement test like the compass test it's basically a test that test your reading, writing and math skills. The test place you in neccessary classes to where you can start your prereqs. Alot of schools require you to have classes like A&P I, & II. Microbiology, Psychology, math, etc...Good Luck!
