Hi everybody.
I have been in pretty bad accident almost 10 month ago and had open ankle fracture. I have been finishing my prerequisites from the wheel chair as I refused to give up my dream. In last 10 month I had 7 surgeries and the ankle fusion surgery was my last one. I am allowed to put partial weight on it now and things seems to be getting better. I am starting the nursing school in September.
Did anybody manage to go through the nursing school with fused joints? What kind of shoes do you guys recommend?

I had a bad accident in high school and have had surgery on my right ankle 8 times over the years. The arthritis is so bad at this point I know I am only years away from having it fused. Anyway, I'm in NS now and its no worse than it was before.. painful but tolerable. I really want to get my bsn and my masters, I'm not going to let it hold me back.
thank you, I am not letting it hold me back either that is why I never gave up on doing my prerequisites.
What kind of shoes are you wearing? I got MBT and it is very comfortable with the fused ankle, but I feel a little bit wobbly in it. I still have 3 month till school start, so hopefully by that time I will be able to walk without limping too much :).

Give it a try. As for shoes - let the MD or a podiatrist make a recommendation. Might even get insurance to pay for it that way
