Full time work and school??

I am currently applying to the ADN LPN-RN bridge program? I have to work while in school. I plan to work 7-3p at my nursing home on Saturday and Sunday. I also plan to work 10p-6am at least two maybe three times a week. My question is: Is it doable? I'm I setting myself up for failure? Has anyone ever work full time and did school? Please share stories/advice!!!

It's doable. You will feel miserable (yet loving bits and pieces of the program) at times, but it's doable. I'm currently working full-time, but I only work 3 days a week (averaging 13 hours each shift). I also only need to take my nursing classes, so I'm not really spreading myself thin over several things to focus on. You need to stay organized, stick to a plan, but also you need to find room to wind down for a second. That care plan won't do you any good if you're just spending five hours staring at it. Give yourself enough breaks to maintain your productivity. Also know when to say no to social activities.

If you have kids, though, that's another factor that completely invalidates what I said. I think back to when my mom was going for RN, and how much of a handful I was as a kid. Definitely need to find a good and reliable support system. Friends, family and neighbors who can watch your kid when needed. But in the end, your sacrifices will be worth it!
