FSCJ Spring 2017

Hello All!

I haven't seen a forum for FSCJ Spring of 2017, so I figured I would post one...

Is anyone looking to get into the program at that time? I am finished with all of my prereqs and I am taking the HESI A2 this Friday.

I am most nervous about not having a CLUE what the FSCJ program is like. I have been to an information session at UNF and their program sounds absolutely wonderful. I am finishing up my AA in the fall, so perhaps if I do not make a seat at FSCJ, I can go for UNF.

It seems more beneficial to come out with a bachelor's as opposed to an ADN. I would really love to work with newborns in the NICU especially. My son was born early and those nurses made such a difference, it sticks with me to this day! I want to be able to help other mommies like that...

I just know you need experience and generally do not go directly into something like that!

I guess I am just looking for any insight at all. Especially from anyone that has been through the FSCJ program! I feel like I am going into it pretty blindly!!

    Tmercer, went did it become a pass or fail? In the packet that I have you are given points based off of your separate scores from the 4 sections.

    Hi Medic84, I just took the Hesi last month. Before taking the test you have to watch a mini video that gives instructions for the test and it stayed that you must have an overall score of at least 75%. So it's not necessarily pass or fail, but you have to make the 75% overall. I took it at Kent campus.

    St. John's river state, they have a nursing program in orange park. I did my nursing prereqs there before transferring to UF. SJR is a great school!

    Just wanted to throw out there that the classes are not the same. Concept based curriculum is structured around concepts (e.g. fluid and electrolytes) and which other concepts relate to those concepts. You begin "thinking like a nurse" at the very beginning. You read the information before class and apply that knowledge in class. You start with a basic knowledge of each concept and gradually build on that knowledge throughout the program. I am in the first cohort to finish the new curriculum. We graduate this December.
