Fscj nursing program questions

Published

Hello,

I was just wondering if it was still possible to get into the nursing program with B's and C's.I have more B's than C's though and I haven't taken the NAT yet. Also, when is the best time to apply for the program?I'll be done with the prerequisites next fall and thats when I'll get my AA degree. Some other questions I have are: Is the NAT hard? (I just took a sample test and did pretty well, except for the math part bleh) How does the nursing interview go,and how long does it usually take to get to know you've gotten accepted into the program? I think thats all I have for now.

It took 194 points to get in this semester. Take the nat and see how you're doing. There's no interview. The best time to apply for the program is between the opening and closing deadlines for applying. If you apply for fall. you must apply before october first. You'll get a letter by thanksgiving. Usually 8 weeks after the application deadline has closed.

oh thanks a lot!

Jainna,

I would also suggest that you evaluate WHY your grades were so low. In the nursing program, 80 is the cutoff for passing grades so anything in the standard-"C" arena would give you an "F". If you fail 1 course, you can drop back a group (if there is a slot) and retake. If you fail 2.....you're outta there!

Many think the grading scale is unfair....but I also look at it this way: The students on the low scale of entry, who did not adjust their study habits, had a hard time passing. We lost students each term (but I don't know of anyone who failed 2 courses). Later, it was usually the ones that struggled to pass the courses that ultimately struggled to pass the NCLEX.

The standards for entry into nursing school are high for a reason. It is a tough program! (I graduated in Aug.)

I wish you the best of luck!

how long does it take to complete the nursing program once accepted?
