From the US to Dubai

Hello,

I am a British citizen who studied BSN in the Philippines. I was not allowed to take the local boards in the Philippines as it's law that only Filipinos can take the exam, so I have no experience.

I just passed the CA NCLEX:yeah:(YEY!), just finished with my IELTS exam (silly that I had to take it, a requirement though) and have sent in my paperworks for review by CGFNS. I have a job waiting for me in New York which is really exciting. The institution has a built-in agency that'll fix my paperworks and won't take any of my (future) salary. The thing is it might take a year or so until I can work.

In the mean time I plan on going to Dubai, I've heard lots of stories about how nurses have a bright future there. I was going to ask:

*Requirements it would take for me to get there as a Brit NCLEX-passer?

*Does the VISA waiver apply to Dubai? What paperworks would I need to fix to work there?

*Would I need to take any exams?

*Would I be able to find work with no experience?

*Should I look for an agency? Or would the hospital deal with paperworks?

*Of course, I have to ask about benefits... (Housing? Allowance?...)

Not sure how you expect to be in NY in just a year, your employer could not even legally offer a job until you had passed the NCLEX exam, and that means that they could not start the paperwork until they have the actual letter from the BRN in the hands of the attorney. You do not have a license number issued by CA without having a SSN# in hand. And in order to work in NY, you must go thru the CVS processing that can take about eight months to complete. We are also under a retrogression at this time, so it is going to be longer than a year, that is for sure. The reason for the IELTS is based on where you did your nursing training, not where you were living before or had lived.

And where were you actually born? That is how they determine status as far as the green card for the US, not by which country that you hold citizenship in.

I would recommend doing some reading on this forum about the retrogression, etc.

And for Dubai, visa waivers are only in the realm of tourism for any country. Anytime that you are going to work in a country, you require a visa that will permit work there.

With my paperworks for NY, there are already being processed, I am being guided legally in this matter. I understand the whole retrogression circumstance and have given myself a year to hopefully have everything done. Once my CGFNS papers get done, from there the agency will fix whatever needs to get done.

Still not sure why you do not think that the retrogression does not apply to you, it does. You also do not have a license in the US if you tested for CA, since they do not issue one without the SSN# already being assigned to you.

If you just passed the exam, then not sure how anything is being fixed for you right now, they need to have a letter from the BRN that you have passed it that gets submitted with any petition.

Not sure if you are aware of how things are actually done here or not.

In normal times, it is longer that a year, usually about 18 months, and there are many that are ahead of you in the processing. You are looking at several years before you will get a visa for the US, there is just not any way around that.

And I would definitely advise doing some reading here if you signed with an agency in NY, there is much that you truly need to be aware of.
