From ADN to BSN at CSULB

Published

Hello everyone,

I just got accepted to GWC nursing program and there are a couple of things that have me concern. When we transfer from ADN to BSN program, will csulb look at our overall gpa, and do they just take a certain amount of RN students ? Is it competitive to get in the BSN program in LB when you already had an RN degree or they will just accept you if you meet all the minimum requirements? If you already transferred from ADN to BSN program in csulb, would you mind share your experience? I would really appreciate that.
Thank you.

Best,

Amy

I did not go to CSULB as an ADN transfer so I don't know how they determine your nursing GPA, or what is transferable. However, CSULB's website for SON has the information you need in regards to how many students they admit and the criteria. It appears they expect RN's with their Associates to have the same GPA's in the same classes as the students who aren't ones yet. If I were you, I would read the criteria and make sure your General Ed and Science classes don't expire by the time you go to apply to CSULB (10 years for general Ed and I believe 5 years for life sciences, although I might be off on the life sciences) . Also, the program you would be applying for accepts only slightly less students than for their basic BSN program. So to answer your question, yes, it is competitive to get in to CSULB. But--it all depends on how many RN's are applying to the program when you are and how much space happens to be available. Hopefully someone with more information responds to your question. Good luck and congrats!
