:wink2:I have an interview scheduled next week for an RN position with Fresenius.
The position is for a LTC-RN in Palos Hills, IL. However, the interview will
be conducted at their downtown office in Chicago. Can anyone tell me
what the hiring process entails? I have been an RN for 16 years with a
strong med-surg background. I am really interested in becoming a diaylsis
nurse and know that this company has an extensive orientation program for inexperienced nurses. Can anyone tell me what their experience has been like with this company, starting with the hiring process? Also, is the salary good? Thanks in advance.

You might want to post this in the renal/dialysis specialty area to get a response.

I worked full-time for Fresenius 8 years & still work prn for them. They have a great on-the-job training program. You will have about 4 weeks of classwork & hands-on learning theory, the dialysis machine, cannulating accesses, and the importance of the water purification process for the dialysis treatments. Experienced dialysis nurses are hard to find, so they will not expect you to know about it. They will be interested in your job performance in previous jobs, how you get along with co-workers & patients, and how flexible you can be regarding your work schedule. Dialysis patients sometimes have to alter their dialysis schedule d/t clotted accesses, medical appointments, or other things. You will need to be able to deal with changes alot. Dialysis usually pays fairly well, more than hospital pay, and you can advance fairly quick if that is what you desire. You will probably be asked where you see yourself in 5 years from now & what your goals for your nursing career are. Just remember to be yourself and you will do well. Good luck in your interview!
