Franchising NPs

Published

I don't know if this is the right thread but I was wondering if there are any NPs here who work full-time AND have business franchises on the side like Quiznos etc?

How were you able to balance both?

I met a pharmacist who works night shift and owned a Quiznos franchise. From what his friends say, he's doing well but I can't imagine having to worry about two different kinds of industries at the same time.

I'm not an NP yet (December) but I do invest in real estate and many of our friends do hold a side business of some sort. Mostly they own gas stations or Subways but their side business is operated as an absentee owner where they only physically have to be there a few hours a week if that. They will hire a manager and pay him/her hourly to run the business and then a few college students part time to fill in as staff. Some businesses for sale are specifically targeted for absentee owners for example rental properties. That's what we invest in. Once you have someone trustworthy who can manage the business it's not that much of a hassle as one would think.
