Trying to find a simple format for hospice IDG notes that meet regs but keeps the charting down to a minimum. Our charting is on laptops and it seems the notes get longer and take forever to update each week. A new technique we're trying is to have the IDG note and plan for next visit note be one in the same note - and it's a jumbled mess. What do all of you do?? Thanks

We are on laptops, too, which I LOVE! The only gripe I have is information is hard to find, once documented. Just wondering, what software is your hospice using? We use McKeson. I previously worked for a differnt hospice, which was still using paper, and I can assure you, using a laptop is sooooo much better.
We have automated forms we can pull over to our IDG, which really makes it easier. Basically, it just asks for us to document any declines, and any recommendations made at the meeting. Also asks: consulations since last IDG, new meds, scheduled nursing, aide, SW, chaplain, and volunteer visits. We are required to also do an IDG recommendation note, following the meeting. Some of the information is repeatitive, but we have a great group of nurses who are working to try to cut some of the repeatition down.
