I'm currently researching FNP programs and I'm interested in the flexibility of FNU's online program. My concerns are potential difficulties in obtaining preceptors and difficulties in finding a job later due to their credentials. Any comments, recommendations or advice is welcome! Thanks!

OP -
I actually choose FNU in part because of the excellent reputation it has and the fact that I had several potential preceptors I knew who were already connected with FNU from precepting other students. I agree with you, that finding preceptors should be a key issue if you consider any school that makes that available to you.
I went about it the other way around, I started building a network with the providers in the area, and one of the things I always asked them about was what program they would suggest, and if they would be willing to precept someone around the time I expected to be needing preceptors. This has worked very well for me. I have kept up that network, and frequently get providers checking up on me, asking about my progress and asking if they can help me out.
It takes a little bit of work every week, but I can tell you from experience in other careers that if your concerns are preceptors and jobs, this is a sure fire way to resolve those concerns before you even step in the classroom.
Having said that, for some reason many do not seem to want to try the networking approach for some reason. FNU has a database with every preceptor who has precepted students in the past in it. They also have a database with all the facilities that have worked with them in the past. Many students find preceptors by searching that database and using it as a resource on who in their area might be open to precepting them.
As for jobs, the jobs board on the internal FNU forum is very active, there are many openings posted on a regular basis. This is a result of the excellent reputation that FNU grads have.
Thank you zmansc for all the valuable information! This will help me to make my decision.
