So, I basically graduate December 2016. Didn't get a job until May 2017 (at a skilled nursing facility) as I chose to travel around Southeast Asia after taking NCLEX. Took another job at a hospital June 2017 as a nurse resident on their float department - mainly floating on tele floors. They offered me about 12 weeks orientation and education follows throughout the 12 weeks, I'm currently on my 3rd week and I genuinely like floating. I get to see different disease processes and practice a variety of nursing skills that I might not able to perform working at one unit.
So, HR called me today and offered me a full time position at their step down unit and I honestly wasn't thrilled working step down. I have floated there before and I can do it however, I just don't think the unit fits me as of the moment. I am just having second thoughts whether it will be best for me to stay in one unit even if I know it does not suit me or stay as a tele float nurse..
Talked to my preceptor about this which is also a float nurse and I asked her if she can give me feedback and she told me that i am one of the fast float nursing.
Any thoughts?
