I'm not in Cali. However, in our program, they will ask when you last drank during your intake. If you have admit to drinking recently, then they are not going to assign you a test that you will likely fail. If you claim you haven't had a drink since xx date, and its been longer than a month, then there is a good chance you will get a PeTH test within your first month
I got tested 13 days after the C.O. was signed and approved without any type of interview prior. I am currently in a medical review because this testing limitations predates the c.o. and it's legalities. So I am praying they take into consideration that they didn't have the C.O. agreement for 29 days prior; therefore throwing it out because they didn't have permission or a reached agreement to obtain samples that are predated before the c.o. was approved. 🤞🏼🤞🏼
Good luck to you and remember to fight for your career and rights bc the BON is NOT there to help you! Yes you have a right to a medical review!! No they won't offer it to you. You have to ask! Stay strong!
The deeper I dive the more I am seeing the levels of possible corruption, illegal activities, ill intent and negative manipulation that is placed upon license holders in "destress" by the BON for their financial gain. Sickening!
Kathy, beat wishes with your Peth Test and I hope it's negative.
1. You are just starting probation/mo itoring. The monitoring case managers know and I understand many coming into recovery/monitoring/probation will often test positive for their first PETH if tje PETH is given in the first week or 2 of starting. There is some grace given. Now, important.....the 2nd one better not be positive. That's when the BON can get involved and bad things happen to your license and the risk for suspension and even revocation come into play. But again, you are given grace for the first test.
2. I do NOT know your story regarding why you are in monitoring. I can tell you this.....IF you are an alcoholic or Addict. Again...IF.....you are an addict or alcoholic, "having one here and there" has DISASTER written all over it for your future if you don't quickly change that mindset. Again, this only applies to anyone who is an alcoholic or Addict and I don't know your background.
3. Even if you are not an alcoholic or Addict, as it strictly relates to graduating the monitoring program and getting the BON stuff behind you and over with, it's critical to understand that ........there is no more "having one here or there" while you are in monitoring because you WILL get nailed. I promise you, you will get caught. Again, I am also NOT saying the above is your personal mindset. I'm just writing this for anyone reading that it may apply to.
I hope your test is negative and if not, you will still be OK.

Stop having a glass or even a sip until you're done with monitoring if you aren't an addict and would suggest no alcohol ever if you are. They will catch you at some point making life more difficult

No alcohol! None. Not in mouthwash, hand sanitizer, spray your perfume on your clothes, no vanilla extract, no soy sauce... read the ingredients, ask Google if there is alcohol in it. Very minimal wiggle room. I am nervous every single time. 5 months left!

You should be able to use perfume on your skin. It doesn't have ethanol correct?

No. Perfumes contain Ethyl Alcohol (Ethanol) as their common base ingredient. The average range is incredibly high at about 80 to 85 percent ethanol based. So, we are talking about 170 Proof. The average or strong liquors sold are only about 80 Proof (Jack Deniels with Moonshine veing around 100 proof on average. Perfume has insane amounts of alcohol at about 170 proof.
OK to put a dab on the OUTSIDE of your clothes? Sure is OK. Rubbing or placing on your skin? One he$$ of a big risk in my opinion.
