First Interview!!

How exciting! Me too actually, though my first interview is for occupational health.

I don't know exact questions to ask but I do remember some pointers from school about the interview process:

1) try not to answer questions with simple yes/no

2) have a list of questions at the ready

3) make sure you use a "medium" hand shake, not too limp, not too vice grip like

4) bring references, letters of recommendation, letters showing achievments etc. with you just in case the opportunity arises to use them.

5) be sure to send a thank you letter after the interview

I'm sure there is more, but I don't feel like getting my notes out tonight. You probably already knew all that, if so then sorry...

You will be asked WHY you want to work there, what your future plans are for nursing, your strengths and weaknesses, past work history, and will probably be given scenarios related to patient care issues. Try not to say " I don't know" as a response to any question. Try to be very positive and focus on your eagerness to learn. Let them know you are willing to go to conferences and to get any education that is offered to better yourself as a nurse. Be confident and smile alot.

Well, I didn't get the job that I posted about previously, but I was just offered a job today! I accepted the position in a pediatric doctors office. It seems that the position is mostly medical assistant type work, but the doctor that I will be working for says she prefers having nurses working for her as compared to medical assistants. I'm hopeful that this will turn into a position that I will love and that I will be challenging enough for me in the long run.

They are starting me out at the average base pay for LPNs for this area, so I can't complain.

I'm nervous! Wish me luck!
