Hi everyone! I am about to begin studying for the first nursing exam through excelsior. I am a tad confused though. I know i download the free content and I did that, just need to print it off. I saw a list of books for the nursing program....should i get all of those? or some? and is there a book for the first nursing class...health safety? or is all the info I need in the free content thing I downloaded? Also, after reading up a little on this site, it looks like I dont have to actually "enroll" until I need to take the 3rd class? I am already an LPN so I dont have to take the 2nd class. Also, can I take the info literacy class at anytime? or does it need to be done by a certain time? one more question.... ;) ......... what is the cpne like?? like is it at a hospital or what?? any help will be much appreciated!!

You can answer these questions by doing some reading on the distance learning forum. The references needed for the test you are preparing for are listed in the study guide. You don't even need to get the books listed. If you find a med surg text that you like better in a bookstore, you can use that. You can get the books from the library for free if you like. There are study materials on ebay. Type in Excelsior College. You can also find study material in the files sections of the various Yahoo Excelsior College groups. Another resource: http://www.flashcardexchange.com. As you can see, you can find study resources in many places. The cheap alternative for the info lit class is Penn Foster, but you need approval from EC first, after you have enrolled.
