I have finally finished my BSN. I have a job in a stepdown unit I start next month. It has ben a trial. I thanks all of you who have helped me along. I even get to graduate "cum laude" , never woulda thought!
Now for the rant:
I am a new grad, and am generally appaled by the way so many people have treated me and some of my classmates throughout nursing school and externships, which will undubtedly continue throughout my period of being a new grad. Its like if I am not a servile humble student who speaks softly , looks at the ground and pretends to know nothing, then I can expect tons of attitude and even had attempts by one evil nurse to sabotage my last clinical for no apparent reason. On the other hand, many nurses have been wonderful and I thank them for keeping my spirits up. The spectrum is extremely varied and I will never treat a new grad or student this way. I don't treat people that way so why make an exception? I hope the days of nurses eating their young has come to an end. It will never start with me. I look foward to helping nursing students and inspiring hope in the future among all.

The only advice that I have is not to act like you know something if you really don't, or if you are unsure of yourself! Always, always, always ask if you have a question. Trust me, most nurses would gladly help direct you on the right path instead of trying to fix a wrong turn! I know it sounds like common sense to ask, but I understand how pressuring it can be to feel like you need to know a lot of things and don't want to sound stupid asking questions. Believe me, I would much rather someone ask me something than have a patient's life compromised! Congrats!!
