Fingerprints

I am such a tool. I did my out of state fingerprints for California licensure by endorsement last week. I filled the card out in BLUE ink and not BLACK and the fingerprint person said it was OK. I just read on the website that any cards filled out not in BLACK will be rejected. How long will it take for them to reject me and can I request another card in the meantime and just redo them or do I have to be rejected first? :(

I don't know how long it'll take for you to get rejected...if they do. They may be more concerned whether the fingerprints themselves are in black ink that they may let your handwriting in blue ink fly.

That being said, you have two options:

1. Call/e-mail the BRN and ask if this will be a problem.

2. Just go ahead and get another card, throw out the blue pen, fill it out in black, get a new set of prints taken, and mail that out. I'd advise that you let the BRN know that a second card is on its way and why.

If it's any consolation, I had fingerprint card issues too :) It took a few tries for me to get it right. Didn't actually end up mailing a messed-up card to the BRN, but I'm sure I provided a lot of entertainment to the staff at the courthouse.

Good luck getting it sorted out!

My fingerprints were rolled in black ink. Yay. Semantics. Ugh

It took them 3 months after I mailed my fingerprints to let me know they were not acceptable. In fact it took 3 tries for mine to come back acceptable to them. Those incidents plus a name change due to marriage during the application process, it took 10 months to receive my license.
