Finding a Job

I'm graduating from a WOCN program soon (single wounds scope). I'm perusing for jobs and I can't find a thing. Not hard to imagine since every hospital I've worked at only has one or two wound care nurses on staff. I know I've only scratched the surface - looking at big hospital systems and their affiliations - but I'm wondering what the best way to go about this is? Are there good networking websites I can check out? Am I pretty much destined to work in LTC (I haven't looked much there yet as they don't seem to list openings online)? Or am I just going to have to wait it out awhile until something pops up? Just wondering if I can be any more proactive.

If it's helpful at all, I'm in St. Louis, MO.

    You say you live in St Louis so I am assuming you directly in the city? Obviously St Louis is a big urban city. Have you tried looking into hospitals in the suburbs as well? I work in New York City, but live in the suburbs and I know a few small community hospitals in the suburbs have GREAT wound care centers. You might have to commute as I do and it's really not bad at all. I am assuming St Louis has a transit system like a railroad system that can get you from the city to the suburbs(I know we do from Long Island to Manhattan) and it's about a 45 hour trip. Even taking a job that has a bit of a commute to get the experience for a while, then getting something closer to home would be good. Try looking into County run hospitals...while some(not all) can have an unsavory reputation they generally have large clinics especially wound care clinics. Keep looking and keep your options open even if you have to branch out, it will be totally worth it for the long run.
