I am a newly licensed RN and have been working at a hospital as a CNA for 2 years. The DON recently hired 3 of my classmates as RN's but decided that she would just keep me as a CNA. I have been looking outside of my "remote" area but the thought of moving from my child/family is not very appealing. I was told in 5 or 6 months she would re-evaluate and determine if she needs another new nurse but they are currently overloaded. I think it's all personal and has nothing to do with my performance over the last 2 years. What do I do? Is it legal to continue working as an aid or am I putting my license at risk? Any ideas?

Are you kidding me? They hired 3 of your classmates and you were already working there for 2 years? Then they have the nerve to insult your RN license by saying they want to keep you as a CNA? You should check to see if you can even still work as a CNA. Usually you can't once you are an RN, at least that is how it is where I live. Maybe it is because you are such a good CNA and they don't want to lose you in that capacity, but come on! You are a RN now and should work as a RN.
Only you know how much you need that job as a CNA, so you need to weigh the benefits of a paycheck against having to work under your former classmates.
