Feeling Down

Published

Hello everyone,

It has been some time since I posted anything. Honestly, I thought I had a plan to help me get back into a nursing program, but the thoughts of knowing I am starting over, taking longer, knowing I haven't at the very least gotten into a program again makes me feel incredibly down.

I was dismissed because I failed my OB drug match exam, and ever since most schools wont accept me or allow me to apply. My GPA is still 3.67 and I could easily get into Chamberlain's Atlanta campus as long as my Hesi is decent. But the cost would still put me between 55-60k total. It's the much faster, and more sure option, and there is a far less chance of me getting into my other hopeful program at Georgia Gwinnett College. They use the TEAS which I hear is the most difficult of the nursing entrance exams to do well on...I would have to retake my sciences and add 5 gen Ed's and chem 1 and 2 to even go there. In Chamberlain I would only have a few gen ed courses and they are mixed into the nursing classes which I would get to begin immediately. I just dont know what to do. It is a painful feeling deep in my chest that I'm fighting every day....any words of encouragement?

Thanks for the time,

NeoNatMom,

I would encourage you to make small goals and meet them. It can seem overwhelming and impossible if you are always focused on the end game. Once you start a program, you will be so busy that the time will fly by.

I personally went to GGC and I have zero regrets. It was an amazing program. You have a competitive GPA, and I am not sure if there is much difference between the TEAS and HESI, but the TEAS basically covers what you have already learned in your prerequisite classes. To prep for this, I highly recommend purchasing the TEAS practice exams on the ati website. It is set up exactly like the test and will highlight specific areas of weakness for you to review.

I am confident you will be fine with a competitive entrance exam score. However, if you have to take a significant number of extra prerequisites for GGC, that is a factor as well. I would recommend reaching out to the program for specific information before making any permanent decisions. GGC provided me with top-notch education at a very fair tuition rate.

Thank you so so much for your response!

Yes, it is very difficult thinking of how much I have to do to get where I want to be, especially since it will be my second time doing so. But if I just take it one day at a time, my success will feel worth it during each step. I just need to learn from the past, and put my best foot forward.

Thanks so much for the words of inspiration! I certainly hope they find me worth a spot.

Fingers crossed!

NNM
