feeling discouraged :(

Published

So I found out today that I was rejected from the COTC-Central ohio technical college program in Newark, Ohio for this Fall . It was for the LPN program. I had a 3.9 gpa there, have a bachelors degree and was done with my prerequisites but Im guessing it was that teas test that prevented me from getting in. I didnt do so well on it.

I have no idea what to do now. I guess I could retake the teas test and apply for the winter quarter but I feel so discouraged and what happens if I dont get accepted again? Now I have a loan I took out for them when I took some classes before the program to get in. A lot of the lpn schools in in the Columbus ohio area are over 12,000 and I dont feel like paying that much for a 1 year program. I already have a student loan from the university. Yes I have a degree but I was laid off due to budget cuts and havent found anything in my career since and theres not that many jobs in Recreation Therapy.

Now I kinda feel that maybe nursing isnt for me but I should have known this wasnt going to be easy . It is a competitive selection at COTC. I would still like to get into nursing in the future because I love helping others and I did pass my stna test but...I just Idk . I guess Im lost

Don't give up just because one test is getting in the way of your nursing career! Study hard, retake the test & apply for winter quarter! If nursing is the career you really want to pursue, don't give up on it just yet! Hang in there, retake the test & believe in yourself! :)

good luck!

Nothing worthwhile is easy! There will always be some obstacle to overcome and time-lines never work out how you planned, at least in my experience. What makes a difference is persistence and perseverance. Like the other poster said you could always retest and reapply, and maybe you could do some serious thinking about what you want to do and look into other options if you think nursing might not be for you, you might find something else that strikes you!

Good luck I hope it turns out well either way
