Are there any FMC acute nurses out there that are paid fee for tx? I'm one and they are refusing to pay us for down time and extra long tx's. They change the rules all the time to suit them at our unit.:angryfire

It sounds like you are at a facility. I am not familar with this practice at hospitals or such.

Other disaplines that are fee for service and have down time set thier own hours. I am not familiar with fee for TX with nurses unless it is something like home care or such.

What sort of setting are you in? Are you free to leave during down time? If you are not free to leave I believe you have a fair labor practice issue.

If you are required to be present whether your services are needed or not you employer is obligated to pay you. If you are free to come and go then they are not obligated.

tHANK YOU SO MUCH FOR RESPONDING! I WORK IN ACUTE DIALYSIS. ON REGULAR DAYS, WE ARE SCHEDULED IN @0600. DUE TO TRANSPORT OR OTHER PROBLEMS W/THE PATIENT ITS 9 OR EVEN 1000 BEFORE WE GET A PT. OUR TX FEE IS BASED ON A 6 HR WINDOW FOR A LONG TX (ANYTHING OVER 3HRS) ONE DAY WE HAD A PT COMING INTO THE ER AND THE DOCTOR DEMANDED I WAIT THERE FOR THE PT INSTEAD OF LEAVING. I WAITED 4 HRS. SO YES WE CAN LEAVE WHEN ITS APPROPRIATE AND TIMES WE CAN'T.
