Hello, I don't understand FCCJ's point system. I actually lost the paper that had it explained. But if someone could explain I would really appreciate it. I'm actually applying last min. for Spring '08 and am taking the NAT on thursday!! Other than that I have all my prereq's done and have 115 points from them. I don't know if that is good or not. I also have my CNA licenses and am working at Shands, I know that's extra points at SJRCC but i'm not sure about FCCJ. I will have my A.A. in December and I think that's extra at SJRCC but again I am not sure about FCCJ. Thank you for any help.

Hello, I don't understand FCCJ's point system.
Hi. Welcome to allnurses.
In a nutshell, it works like this:
You get 4 points for each A, 3 for each B, and 2 points for each C of your prerequisite classes. If you make straight A's for your prereq's, that totals 120 points. Add to that your NAT score. This is the entrance test for the nursing school. There are 5 parts to the NAT, but only the raw score for the reading comprehension, academic aptitude, and natural science sections are counted. You add the raw score of these three sections together and multiply that number by 0.64. If you answer every single question correctly, that's another 120 points. Finally, if you are an FCCJ-trained EMT, paramedic, etc, that can give you up to 20 more points, depending on how long you've been working.
The number of points needed to get into the program varies each semester. Basically, we are all competing against each other. They take the top 145 students each semester (based on the number of points), and the lowest score is what their cut-off is (but it's usually between 181 to 183 points).
HTH and good luck!

Also remember you can't count chem in your points.
