eye gtt replacement

Am on prednisone (prednisolone) eye gtts for a retinal problem.

Went to a bbq yesterday, the outdoor temp was probably low 80's, maybe, though it did feel quite hot and humid at times. Left the gtts in my bag in a parked vehicle for maybe 5 or 6 hours. Didn't think anything of it at the time, not till I got home.

Gtts supposed to be stored at room temp, away from heat and light, so this a.m. I called the pharmacist and he suggested replacing them, he said the key was when I said they were in a parked car as the temperature can get over 100 in a parked car. I don't think it was that hot yesterday but I do have one refill so am going to get the refill. It should be enough to get me to my next MD appt. and if I need another script then I will tell the doc at that time what occurred.

He said if they were on my person and I were comfortable even if it were in the 80's they should be alright, but the parked car was the thing.

I never thought anything of it, I could have put them in the person's house which had A/C. Hindsight being 20/20.

Do you agree replacement is the way to go? And does anyone else ever do anything like this?

Have been thinking since yesterday about the people post hurricane, many of them must have had a problem also with med storage due to no electricity and the heat. Though that may have been the least of their problems. God bless us all.
