Externships in Hampton Roads??

Hi all. Do any of you know of an externship program in Hampton Roads where you can go part time or go for around 8 hours a day?? I am interested in doing an externship this summer, but most of the ones I have checked into are 12 hour shifts. Anyone know of any that are not that long??

Thanks very much! Epona

I did my externship with Sentara and they only allowed 12 hour shifts, but a friend of mine did Chesapeake General and they had 8hr shift M-F. Hope this helps.

:nurse:NSUNURSEB, wanting to know more about NSU nursing programs. I'm going to start LPN school soon and I'm interested in taking the LPN-BSN program at NSU. I heard nice things about the nursing program can you give me any other info? I'm attending an Information session on the 24th and I'm not sure if I should go LPN-ADN or LPN-BSN. :confused:Any help is appreciated.

Good luck to you and the young lady trying to find an internship.:nuke:

Hi! Thanks! I really liked Chesapeake and wanted to do theirs (thanks for the hours on them), but they are like an hour drive one way for me... so they are kinda out for that reason. I have two other local hospitals near me who are interested in me and I am going for interviews at both. I have already asked about hours and they both are pretty vague. Guess I will find out when I go for the interviews. Thanks very much!! :)

You are welcomed. Good luck on your interviews. Just be confident. Externships are really great learning experiences, and I think they should be mandatory for all schools...but they aren't. Any how, just make sure you take FULL advantage of the experience if you get offered a position to one of them.
