Externship Experiences

Just wondering who has done an externship/intership during the summer in the NY area... What hospitals? How did you like it? pay rate? hours? ect...I'm looking into doing one this summer and would appreciate any advice . Thanks!

Did my externship at NYP-Cornell and loved every minute of it. It was 10 weeks long, worked three 12 hour shifts a week and got paid $14/hr...they also decided to give us the option of staying throughout our senior year.

SBU~ I WANT TO GET INTO NYP-CORNELL!!!! how did you enroll? help me out here :roll .

You need to bring a resume, cover letter, 2 references letters from your clinical instructors, and an official transcript to the Employment Services office on York Ave between 72nd and 73rd Street. I would say do it soon as possible because all of the spots are filled by May. Good Luck!

Thanks for the info above. I want to do the NYP externship in the Summer of 09. I will be entering my senior year in an accelerated program by Fall 09, but won't have taken the med/surg clinical until after the externship. So I'm not sure if this disqualifies me. Do you know what the eligibility requirements are regarding clinical experience? :nuke: Thanks
