I will be starting at a hospital that provides the following shift differentials:

10% base evening, 18% base night, and then 10% base weekend premium pay....is the weekend pay 10% of your base pay or 10% added to what you make normally with the shift diffs? I'm confused.

Call HR or ask your NM. My hospital does everything based off your base pay. Nothing for weekends, though, except the weekend option people.

Everything is based on the base.....ime. :)

It depends on your hospital. I have worked at facilities that let's say....you are scheduled Saturday night. YOu would be paid you base plus the 18% night differential and becasue it's saturday.....plus the 10%. In effect you would be getting 28% over your base pay.

Check with your HR.

Yeah - same here- whatever applied got added, to the base :)

Thanks, a recruiter had told me I could make up to 28% of my base so I see where that amount came from.

I've never heard of 28% of base rate for working a weekend schedule. I would clarify that one. Many nurses don't even get weekend pay, such as myself, and I work every weekend. I'm sure it is 10% of your base. That means even if you work the day shift on Saturday, you have that 10% premium rate.
