:)I'm starting the program in the spring and was wondering what to expect as far as schedules. I'm sure schedules vary depending on the schools but could someone give me a general idea?
just about every school has a proposed schedule or sequence of courses to keep you on track for graduation. call your school or explore their website. any other answer is just a guess.
I know this is how it goes with my school (Kaplan University):
1ST TERM (10 WEEKS):
4 days of class:
8:30-10:30 & 10:40-3:30
2ND TERM (10 WEEKS):
2 days of class & 2 days of clinical:
CLINICAL IS @ LONGTERM CARE FACILITIES-MAINLY DOING PHYSICAL ASSESSMENTS AND VITALS
Class hours change from 1st term
Clinicals ALWAYS start at 6:30 AM and go until your clinical coordinator says you are done for the day.
3RD TERM (10 WEEKS):
2 days of class & 2 days of clinicals:
CLINICAL IS @ LONGTERM CARE FACILITIES- ALL PHYSICAL CARES PLUS MEDICATIONS AND TREATMENTS (I.E. ACCUCHEK, INSULINS, DRESSING CHANGES)
Class hours are about the same as 2nd term
Clinical hours stay the same
This term is when we get the CNA & CMA state certifications
4TH TERM (10 WEEKS):
2 days of class & 2 days of clinicals:
CLINICAL IS AT ACUTE CARE FACILITIES, DOING TRACH CARES, ALL ACUTE CARE SETTING INCIDENCES.
Class hours are the same as 3rd term
Clinical hours stay the same
5TH TERM (10 WEEKS):
1 day of class & 3 days of externships/clinicals:
CLINICALS ARE EXTERNSHIPS THIS TERM, OUT IN THE COMMUNITY (DR. OFFICES, DRAWING BLOOD, GIVING INJECTIONS, OB CLINICS, DIFFERENT DR. OFFICES AND CLINICS)
Pinning Ceremony is during the 7th week of the 5th Term.
