Excessive documentation

Hi,

Getting kinda sick of ppv casemanagement d/t excessive charting/follow up. It seems the pts are complex with numerous phone calls/documentation. Which, to me questioning if this is worth it. A pt fell yest, had to call office, md, pt then documentation, without a dime to me. Also, another pt hospitalized, had to do transfer oasis with no pay. Last week had to do d/c oasis on pt whom refused visit. Office does not pay paper time and states all care and documentation is the visit rate. Just wondering if other agencies pay for charting without visits or excessive time spent on pt care?

That's exactly the reason why I don't work pay per visit. Not all agencies are as inflexible as yours, but many will pay you a reduced hourly rate to complete documentation. I hope you're getting mileage, some agencies say the mileage is included in the ppv.

You would be better off finding a company where you could be paid hourly.

Hourly is the best, I agree. Working per visit doesn't pay extra when the visit takes longer or some other problem. However, they don't pay you less when a visit is short and the documentation is easy. Its supposed to balance out. But with todays high acuity patients, I don't think it does...

I have to agree, I haven't had any short visits in a long time.
