Excelsior Exams -- Study material???

Published

Hello!! I recently enrolled in Excelsior and am very eager to start my exams to earn my RN. Can anyone tell me what they used as study material? I have searched the Excelsior website and havent found any recommendations for books, study guides or rescources. Can anyone tell me what they used or how they found out which rescources I need to have for my exams?? Thank you so much!

When you register for the exam, you can download the outline - it has the recommended textbooks and assigned chapters. I have been told to ALWAYS follow the content guide outline for the exam, this tells you exactly what to study. Bril

I always just made sure I knew everything that was on the free study guide that they give you. It is pretty detailed and you can use your old nursing books or buy some used.

You can also use study guides such as those from StudyGroup101. Search google.com for them. They're around $10 and many people swear by them.

Good luck!

Down load the ECE's study guides. They are found under resources tab. They give you a list of required books and journal articles. Study101 are just study notes. I found them helpful for review since I suck at taking notes. I tend to rewrite the book. Good luck. I just passed my NCLEX.

Studygroup101 also has a ton of practice questions that help alot (not just notes). I've passed Transition and Health Safety and I'm working on Crhonicity and Reproductive Health right now. I like the practice questions and rationales, it helps alot (for me!).

I have found them to be great. Depending on your financial situation rue also has the option of financing the exam fees (they send you a chec for the exam cost). I chose it because even after studying I was having to wait until I coud come up with the exam fee. Now I pay a litte over $100 a month and have taken four exams in less tan six months.
