ER TECH

Hello, I'm getting ready to move in 3 months, I just finished a semester of EMT - B. Got certified here in the state of Virginia, but will be moving to WA state. I plan on getting into Nursing school fall of 2017 (Hoping to have my prereqs done this fall / 2017 spring and accepted soon after or however the process works?

I figured to get some good experience (Since i have no field exp or any other htan what i learned out of my class which was ONE ER shift as a tech /student and ONE ambulance shift). by applying and working as ER tech or whatever they're called but Im having a hard time even finding such a job title? I have zero hands on expereince like stated and odnt want to work a random job that doesnt apply to what I've learned.

If all else fails Ill try to go work for a Ambulance company as my buddy does and htey hire you with zero experiance.. But as stated I rather get Hospital experience over pre hospital.

Currently stuck working in food service. So please any advice, help, tips, where or how to look for said job?

Hi there. What part of WA will you be moving to? The coast is gorgeous, but Eastern WA also has it's charms. PacNW area is extremely competitive for nursing school admissions. You may want to have a Plan B just in case you aren't admitted right away.

Thanks for the reply. Unsure on the exact area, But it will be in western, WA from either North Tacoma / Port orchard / Silverdale / Bremerton near the sub base.

Extremely competitive? Well thats a bit scary to hear. I was reading on another thread on how 'competitive' it is in Western washington. My question is what should I do to better myself?

Should I strive for ER tech jobs ? Or get my CNA? etc. Like stated I can more than likely get something goin for a private ambulance company. My original plan was to pursue firefighting/Medic as a career profession, but I feel in the long run it would be better for my family (I have a wife and two kids) to get into the nursing field. Either way I will still be helping people which is all I want to do.
