Equivalent Courses

Hey,

I've read in some posts that it is possible to get an LPN completed quicker if you have an extensive academic background. Like having a couple of community college classes transfer or something. I plan to start a year long four quarter LPN program in April or August, depending on waitlist status; but I have a lot of academics completed.

What courses in the LPN program do academics equate to. I have completed the following:

A&P I, II & III

Intro to Inorganic Chem, Intro to General Chem, Intro to BioChem

Microbiology

Biology I

Statistics

Physics I

Nutrition

Psych General, Developmental & Abnormal

English I & Technical Writing

If there is any way I could complete the program in three terms instead of four that would work a lot better for me because of the costs of daycare and my home lease.

Thanks

it depends on your lpn school. my lpn school let us test out or challenge the course if you took them and passed in college. i went to a vocational school so some of the general classes are like 3-4 weeks long and they don't transfer anywhere because they are not college credits. (just fyi, no classes transfer if you got them from a vocational school).

for example, my lpn ap is combined i & ii, so you must have taken the college api & apii in order to challenge it. you will have to send your transcript to them and they will give you the ap "final exam" and if you pass, you get the credit and can skip the class. however, the sequence of classes are already arranged in order so you could not really finish earlier even if you get to skip a class because you have to wait for the current class in progress to finish and will join them again for the next one. i hope i make sense. this was my lpn program though so make sure to ask your respective school.

with those pre-reqs already done, i suggest you look into an rn program. nothing wrong with being an lpn but if you can do an rn program first, it would be better for you.

good luck,

angel, rn
