Equivalency exam for the lpn

I've never heard of a state giving an equivalency exam before letting someone take the NCLEX-PN. What I have heard of is them requiring letters or other evidence proving "educational equivalency" when the person has had their LPN training outside the state before allowing them to take the NCELX-PN exam in their state. This is just part of the red tape involved in applying to take the NCLEX-PN exam. This is because each state board of nursing has different requirements for their schools of nursing. The "educational equivalency" is a process the state of Georgia needs to go through to assure that your training in NY or NJ was "equivalent" to the training the Georgia board requires in their LPN schools before they are going to allow you to take the NCLEX-PN and become an LPN in their state. I recommend that you pull up the application for LPN licensure for the first time LPN licensee for the state of Georgia and read the instructions on the application. You should be able to do this on the website. There should be something in there about "educational equivalency". In any case, to get your LPN license, you still have to take the NCLEX-PN at least once, somewhere. Probably the easiest thing to do to avoid this red tape is to take the NCLEX-PN in NY or NJ where you went to school. If you pass, then you can get your license in George by endorsement.
