Feb 23, 201610 yr Author what are these categories? can you maybe scan your assignment and send it to me?best thing would be to give a situation that fits every categoryfor example give me a situation where you provided service to public. the situation should start with assessment and finish with evaluationgive me another situation where you demonstrated responsibility and accountability. as well, the situation should start with assessment and finish with evaluationmaybe you demonstrated responsibility and accountability while you were providing service to public? in this case you will have one example that covers both categories. you have one example but you will need to give more explanations why your example addresses both categories. as long as you explain, it does not really matter how many examples you give. everything is interrelated in nursing and we can learn many things from the same example.if the situations that you provide address stages of nursing process, they will address competencies as well. you just need to chose which competencies fit your examplesi would say, because you do not really know, to be on the safe side, you will need to adress all 4 cathegories
Feb 23, 201610 yr Yeah sure I can scan my assignment and send it to you. Would you mind if I ask your email address?
Feb 23, 201610 yr lhizza, I think CAS is confusing and time consuming for most IENs, if you are interested there is a workshop on how to complete CAS at care4nurses in March.
Feb 23, 201610 yr When in march? We have 45 days deadline to submit and write our CAS. thanks for the information.
Feb 23, 201610 yr Author unless the workshop is provided by the same body who actually checks your assignment i would not go.. they will just waste your time and money. and make you more confused. i talked to many highly educated nurses about these assignments and all of them have different opinions of how to do this. In this case, more education does not necessary bring more clarity . because topic itself is not very clear. like for example why service to the public and ethical practice are two different categories? i would think nurses should provide ethical practice while providing public service or any other service. just do not overthink it. give good examples from your practice. show them that you understand 4 stages of nursing process, show them that you have critical thinking and it will be okthese topics are confusing for nursing instructors too. i remember in nursing school it was a nightmare for everybody.
Feb 23, 201610 yr @IHizza, google care4nurses org under "Are you struggling to compete the competency assessment supplement?" you will see the CAS workshop is March 15, 22, 28th
Feb 23, 201610 yr Omg I am not available on march 15 22 and 28. Are you interested to go there? Or somebody interested to attend the seminar?
Feb 23, 201610 yr I am not interested in going to the workshop, it is applicable to IENs who need advice on how to complete CAS and as a working Canadian RN I do not need to do CAS.
Mar 6, 201610 yr HI. I am in the middle of completing my CAS too. it is really stressful and mind pressuring. But, thankS for the tips Ive read here. I am down to, i guess, 20 and I still have 90+ to go. omg! I just hope I can make it on time. I thought of going to the CAS workshop but its 300$ for non member, its costly for me. I just hope in the end, CNO will give me the eligibility. Did you guys have any books that you can sugest? I mostly type the keywords on google and get ideaS from there and just relate on my practice. Heaven knows, I hope Im doing the right thing! HAY!
