Emigration Advice

Published

Hi,

I'm currently in my final year of psychiatric nursing in Ireland. In October I will graduate from a 4year Honors Degree which will qualify me as a BcSc Hons RPN (registered psychiatric nurse).

My dream is to emigrate to the United States to live and work for a number of years while I am still young.

From what I can gather online, my qualification doesnt seem to transfer to the usa.

Can anyone give me any advice on how i can get around this obstacle?

Can I do courses anywhere to make up the required amount of general nursing hours?

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am not ready to give up on my dream just yet??

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

You have to meet US state requirements and they require general training so you do require both clinical and theory hours in Paeds, Mental Health, Obstetrics and Adult. If you do not meet these requirements then you will have to find some school/university that will allow you to make up these hours.
