Elcentro fall 2017

I know its super duper early.. I'm still in the process of taking my pre reqs.. I still need biol 1406 & bio 2401 I made a B in engl 1301 & A in psyc 2301.. I plan on taking bio 1406 in fall & bio 2401 in winter semester. Im taking as many supporting classes as I can to rack up on the extra points. I currently attend collin but they have so many more requirements than el centro so in the event i do not get accepted into elcentro the following semester I will apply at collin.. I still need Hesi & all my shots along with cpr.. anyone in the same situation? Or just getting the process started?? I figured I'd start a thread to help us all get over this together.. feel free to comment advice, concerns or questions :)

how much money did you spend out of pocket before you got your book refund ?on books background check etc

TBH i took summer classes and took out a loan for all that. the books were around $2000 and the background checks were around $40 each. I think there were 3 diffferent things we had to do. My book money took forever and a day!

Hi guys I'm planning on applying in the summer due to some setbacks and me having to retake a few classes but how far along is everyone?

Hi I was going to apply for Spring 2018 but I felt that was too far away. I'm applying for the Fall. I called El Centro (Nursing Department) I spoke to this guy and he told me that the lowest they accepted for the Spring was 17 points! I was shocked. Right now I am currently getting my shots updated and I'm getting my CPR this Friday coming up. I just wish they would extend the deadline.

I retake my hesi next Saturday and I plan to turn In my packets afterwards ... hope to apply with 29-35 points

That is great good luck....when I took my Hesi two weeks ago, I found that it was no way around the anatomy section. I found that section very random and I studied for about a month.....my score was 80. I'm not retaking my Hesi, I found it to be hard (anatomy, and grammar). Just remember to take your time. Use the calculator in the math section and you should do well in that particular section. I took 4 hours to complete my Hesi.

Yeah I made a 72 last time I took it ... I will definitely slow down this time ... I'm studying each system and not just try memorize terms. I want to get a full understanding of each !

17 points with the new point system??? Wow I'm speechless now I really wish I could apply for fall 2017 :( but I'm really behind on my shots and anyone know if nortlake offers cpr classes and how long they are good for. So far I have 20 points without the HESI

I mean that's what the guy told me on the phone, each semester is different with the pool of applicants. I would at least make sure I have about 28 or higher to be competitive. I think that, that person was really lucky.

The books that really helped me was Barrons E-Z anatomy and Cliff notes anatomy this section. I just skimmed through some of it if I felt like I knew it. I just wish that the test was not so random. On the grammar section I was nervous because some of the sentences did not make any sense to me....luckily I made an 80. With the vocabulary I scored a 94, It was pretty much medical terminology.....I already have my CNA so it was pretty easy, if you are struggling with that section use the pocket prep app Hesi a2.

The lowest points accepted to the program? He said it was 17??? It was really 27!

The guy that I spoke with over the phone told me that the lowest they accepted was 17 points. He works there so I just took his word for it. I don't know how true this is, I don't think he would have any reason to lie. ijs.
