Ectopic Pregnancy

I have been researching ectopic pregnancies (for personal information not school) and have some questions. I am a worrier, and there is a possibility I am very very early pregnant, like only 1-2 weeks. Home test will not show yet. But I had some light brown (sort of like liquid) spotting the past 2 days and a tiny bit of blood. Now it is gone. My period is not due until Oct. 10 or so (I have 33 day cycles, so this spotting occured around day 19-21). I have also been having cramping, especially on my right side, and they get worse when I lay down. I am worried I might have an ectopic pregnancy. How common are ectopic pregnancies? Is your risk lower if no one in your family has ever had one? Should I be worried? I tried looking this up on WebMD.com, but they didnt answer my questions.

Thanks

You are correct that the symptoms you describe may indicate an ectopic pregnancy, but they are also common at the time of implantation, which is a far more likely explanation. If you feel the need to check into this further, contact your doc or midwife and ask about serial beta-hcg testing, which is the only test I know of at this point that would shed any light on your situation, since it is probably too early for an ultrasound.

In the meantime, take good care of yourself!

I second what Jolie suggests! I truly hope that you are not experiencing this. It is absolutely NO FUN!!!
