Nursing Students LPN/LVN Students

Hello my fellow LPNs

I would like to know is there anyone in the LPN program at ecpi, and if you are what do you think so far of the program I just took the TEAS test today and I passed. So I will be starting the LPN program on 06/15/2015 :roflmao: I am so happy, but now that I am sitting here thinking about it I am nervous as hell, because I don't know what to expect. I am already a RMA and I just want to get started and get done, so that I can go on and get my RN license because that's what I really want to become....anyone please let me know something I have been hearing some really good things about this school.

Hi there! Congrats on passing the TEAS! I actually start the LPN program at ECPI Manassas this coming Monday the 6th! Orientation is this Thursday, if you'd like I can let you know whatever they go over during orientation :)

I have a friend who goes there as well for LPN and said its hard but definitely worth it- I'm looking forward to getting started!

OOOOOOO thank you so much for responding...yes please let me know what they do in orientation. I will be going to ECPI Charleston and I have heard great things about the school even a 100% pass rate on the NCLEX-PN :)

Not a problem! I'm getting ready for orientation now- and I'll hop back on here when I get home and let you know how it went!!

thank you

Sorry for the delay! I ended up going and purchasing a new vehicle after clinical and selling my old one yesterday- I didn't forget about you!!

Orientation was great. Started at 9am and it was everyone beginning this term. So it started with students from the IT, criminal justice, health sciences and nursing all together. The campus president came and gave us a brief overview about the school and introduced the heads of staff. The head of admissions went over the importance of communication and attendance and then we split off into our sections.

My LPN class will consist of seven people, myself included. The DON gave us a calendar for this term (the next 5 weeks) with the dates and hours of our classes. We start with A&P 1, Dosage Calculations and Freshman Orientation. She stressed the importance of class and clinical attendance, where to go and who to go to if you need help, and went over the nursing handbook- which is our 'bible' and goes over things like grading scales, clinical requirements, dress codes and the chain of command.

After we signed all of the forms about receiving the handbook, we tried on uniforms for sizing and took our pictures for our badges. Then we got a bit more of an in depth tour and went to pay our background check fees (this was a surprise, as no one to that point had mentioned that the background check fee was out of pocket and had to be done before the end of your first term, preferably before you even begin class!)

And after that it was over. I left a little after 11, so all in all it was only 2 hours.

My first day of class is Monday, and il definitely let you know how it goes! Let me know if you have any questions, I'll try my best to answer them!!

I'm in term 3 at Ecpi. I have a few threads under my name about it

thank you for the response guys those are the same classes I am starting out with I had to go there Saturday to take a tour of school and talk with financial aid they told me I needed to do a practical nursing essay, also they have to look at my previous transcripts from the two colleges I attended because they told me that I might have to take a&p 1 and 2 over again because they found out from other colleges that they were not teaching it right so I'm like my money and more weeks added on

That's awful! I'm sorry your credits won't transfer :(

I didn't have to write an essay, not that I would have minded- but my admissions process was sinfully easy.

Today was my first day, and honestly it was pretty boring. I have A&P Mondays and Wednesday's, Thursday's I will have freshman orientation and the Friday is dosage calc.

Today was boring for me because I've taken a&p before. My credits were from other vocational schools so they too, would not transfer. We still haven't gotten our badges, apparently the library has been super backed up with the large amount of new students...and we do not get scrubs until 2-3 weeks in. I'm assuming we will get all of our moodle (like blackboard) info on the first day of freshman orientation- because as of right now none of us have any access to it.

All in all, a quick and quiet first day. Can't complain in the least seeing as I have tomorrow off :)

Keep us updated on how the rest of the admissions process goes for you!

hey what time do you get out of classes im pretty shore my classes are going to be on those days to I hope it goes by fast im so ready to start they told me the only class that will transfer is my human growth class

also did they tell you yet where your clinical sites will be

Right now, Monday and Wednesday I get out at one. Today (Thursday) I'll get out at three (freshman orientation is LONG) and Friday I get out at one. That's just for the first term though (5 weeks) another PN student who transferred from va beach has class Monday through Friday until 4:30 so it will definitely change.

We have a good idea of where 95% of our clinical sites are, and all but two are local. We'll be going to a VA hospital in West Va which is the furthest away but those are 12 hour clinicals so we only have like three days max to drive out there- so it's not too bad. Everything else is within an hour from the school.
