Ear syringing

This is especially for any UK nurses. Do you need to go on a course to syringe ears? I have always been told you do but my boss doesn't think so and wantsto go ahead and do it herself???

Are you talking about fllushing them after using the ear wax removal drops? If so, we do it all the time. We attach a butterfly cath tip to the syringe and use very warm water to help you get the wax out. We did not have to go to any class. Another nurse taught me when I first started here.

My last dr. I worked for actually used a water pik. It worked fantastic. And good god, if you can imagine how much I would see come out of these ears...even a bee one time...
