dumb question..

Hi everyone this is a dumb question but I really do need some advice. I am going to be taking my hesi soon and im a little worried about the reading comp. I know that sounds stupid but reading comp has never been my strong point. Sometimes I have trouble identifying the authors primary purpose or identifying the overall tone. I was wondering if anyone had any hints that would perhaps make it easier for me. Thanks:)

my "Hint" would be to read... read a small book then write down 3-5 things about each chapter to get your brain used to retaining stuff you read... if you are really bad write one thing per page...

I agree with Ttechnogeekyt.

My reading comprehension was terrible for a long time. I started reading a lot of novels, textbooks, etc. It's helped tremendously to write things down and then perhaps explaining it to someone else. If you are able to explain to someone else, then you've got it down.

I did a lot of this went I took A&P 1 & 2 as well as Microbiology.

Good luck to you!

I took the HESI a few months ago, English is my second language, I learned to read, write and speak English when I was 19 yo back in 94 when I moved from Brazil to FL. I got a perfect score on the reading comp. and a 96 on grammar. If I can do it, you can too. I did not find the reading comp at all difficult. the txts are short and you are allowed to go back and read again for your answers if you feel the need. Follow the previous posters' advice, and keep your nerves in check. Good luck! If I can do it, ANYONE can. ;)

Great advice from Ttechnogeeky. I'll be taking it soon as well, and will keep that in mind. Good luck!
