Dumb Question but...

If you can approximate an hourly wage based on starting based income for a new CRNA, what is that hourly age? $40/hr?

Let's hear it.

When I shadowed, I was able to interview the chief CRNA who does all the hiring and the base salary for new grads was 120,000 or $57/hr at 40hr/work/wk, they also payed $90/hr for any work over 40hr. They also offered a stipend at $1000/month while in school (2 year comit.). You would have to add that into the salary which would make it $132,000 for the first two years or $62/hr.

I am sure figures must differ depending on the location. Even in this area one hospital starts new grads at 105,000 and there are some outside the cities which start at 150,000. Obviously these are all W2 jobs and not contract work. Check out www.gaswork.com for your area.

Don't forget all of your benefits. Those really add up. If i had to COBRA my health insurance, that would cost me almost 1k per month. Factor that, disability, life insurance, retirement contributions if any, etc....It's the total package, not what you earn per hour.

Do any crna positions come with benefits or are they all out of pocket?

You know, you make a very good point. As young as I am, I'm very naive about benefits that come with a profession. I hardly ever know what benefits are appealing and will serve me well in my future as I grow older.

Thanks for your insight.

Why so?

It seems like anytime anyone posts a question about salary they get hung out to dry as someone who is "just in it for the money." That assessment can hardly be made based on a few innocuous posts. Let's try to be nicer, shall we?
