I just received my first acceptance letter. It is from Drexel University in PA for the Accelerated Career Entry BSN (second degree). I only have 40 days until I have to pay the admission fee and I can't figure out if this is a good school or not because there are no rankings. I did not have to send any recommendations or essays with my application and that makes me nervous. Does anyone have any insight?

hi - I attend Widener U in Chester, PA...while I don't know details about Drexel's Accel BSN program, I have heard good things about it. Have you tried posting/searching in the Pennsylvania forum? You might find some information over there. Good luck!

Congrats! I also just got my acceptance letter for Drexel for Fall of '08. Their website says their current NCLEX pass rate is 98.6% which is pretty darn good. It is the shortest program in the country and there are a lot of credits per quarter based on the curriculum on their website. Hope this help.

Do a search on the PA forums... there have been some in-depth posts about Drexel's program. It has a good reputation but from what I've heard, prepare yourself for a VERY vigorous and strenuous program. The amount of material they cram into the time span is insane. I think I also read that they do a lot of clinical hours, even more so than a normal BSN program. Don't quote me on that though.

Drexel's program has an excellent NCLEX pass rate - best in Pennsylvania last time I checked, but I'm not sure if that also includes their 4-year co-op BSN.

A couple of things about the ACE program: (1) They have a high dropout rate because of the insane schedule. They recently started taking fewer students, so maybe that dropout rate has dropped already. (2) Once you pass all your courses, you have to pass the HESI Exit exam with at least 87% (they recently bumped that up from 85%). If you fail it 2 times, you have to re-register as a part-time student and pay more tuition. I don't know how many times they let you take it, but bottom line: you pass the HESI exit with at least an 87% or better or you don't get your BSN from Drexel -- No matter how good your grades were. A friend of mine finally passed it on the 3rd try. She is extremely bright and got As and Bs in all her courses. (BTW, Drexel considers an 80 in a course to be a C-minus.) She was darn near a mental breakdown when she found out she had to take the test a third time!

I haven't heard any complaints from Drexel students that they feel unprepared to be nurses, so that's in Drexel's favor. And I know they are not the only program in the country to require a pass on the HESI in order to graduate. So just ask some more questions of current students, and go into the program with your eyes open if you decide to go there.

Hi!!!! I just got accepted to Drexel's Ace Program yesterday!!!! I can't believe it. I also got accepted to Villanova's BSN Express. I guess I have some research to do, buti'm very interested in both and I would love to here any info

First I want to say COngratulations to every1 accepted!!!!!!!!

I had my transcripts sent out late and waiting for a reply from Drexel Ace. I was curious to know what GPA's everyone had? and what previous degree did everyone have?

Im so nervous!
