I recently took the NCLEX for the second time and did not pass. I took a course before I graduated in May and then one by Kaplan before I took the test this time. I just an feeling that maybe I should not be a nurse. I graduated from a great nursing school with a BS in nursing. I am so frustrated with myself. I just needed to vent a little. Any advice for a girl like me?

I'm sorry about your test. The advise that I can give is to just try again. This test doesn't mean that you won't be a great nurse. There are so many people out there that don't make it the first second or third time. This test doesn't predict if you can or can't be a nurse. Bottom line, it's whether or not you know HOW to take a test. I've worked other nurses that failed the test and I would not have known unless they told me of course. And I would have never of guessed it either.
You have to tell yourself that you are bigger than this test. You have worked so hard to get through school and graduate. That is a huge accomplishment in itself!! Take a break, relax and then go at it again. Good luck!

Hello K19P,
I have to tell you that I felt the same after I failed my second attempt. It was the worst time period of my life. I cried everyday for about 3 weeks, crawled into my own little hole, and even cursed God. It was horrible. So I understand the feeling. However, we each go through these types of trials differently. Questioning whether or not you are meant to be a nurse is necessary because that is the first question in the driving force to TRY AGAIN!
My advice for you now is to go through these very important days, weeks, even months if necessary of mourning. Allow yourself to feel crappy. One day you won't feel so bad, and then the next day after that will be better, and at last you will understand that you must get up and go at it. That is the time when you can really turn your situation around.
I passed my third attempt just last week after going through exactly this. It was the best feeling next to my wedding day.
Please don't give up, it is obvious because of your CARING so much to pass that you want to be a nurse, and we need you. If you need to vent, keep coming here or even email me if you like. I have a few tricks up my sleeve that helped me pass this time.
God Bless,

Jacel is right, K19P. I remember well her torturous months of disappointment, selfdoubt, etc. There were others, as well. Yet all managed to get back on that horse once again.
You, too, CAN and SHALL pass this hurdle. We'll be here for you.
Hang in there... chin UP !!! :kiss
