There are so many and a lot of them do an okay job in repetition of the type of questions you will see on the exam, but having bought all the books and even taken a kaplan course prior to taking the exam, I feel that they are all next to useless.
The best preparation for the NCLEX is nursing school and taking it so close to the end is a wise decision.
I guess the takeaway message for my post is that all of these books are geared toward teaching strategy and gaining familiarity with the new NCLEX. None of them did this as adequately as they claim to, (in my opinion). If I had to characterize them I would say that they are almost predatory in the sense that they rely on the insecurities of new nursing grads, but offer very little that couldn't be taught in a pamphlet. All the studying and prepping usually causes people to delay their NCLEX, which is also counter-intuitive to me.
Maybe I'm just crazy.
Good Luck,

I'm using three: Kaplan, Saunders, and Prentice Hall by MARY HOGAN.
