Does NCLEX result expire?

Published

I took the California NCLEX on October 2007. Retrogression happened.

At that time I was told that I should contact the boards once I have SSN and I would not need to retake the NCLEX.

Currently, there is a visa currently available for me.

It has been almost ten years so I would like to make sure. I can't find the answer in the CA BON website.

Do I need to retake the NCLEX?

There is no California NCLEX — it is a national licensure exam. If you pass it once, you don't take it again. Did you pass it? Were you ever granted a license, even briefly?

Yes I passed it but due to retrogression, I was never granted a license.

You will need to contact the California BRN as they are the only ones who will have your passing results at this point.

Thank you. I was looking for a request form but could not find it on the Cali BON website. I was surprised, as I assumed it would be a common request.

Would you know the procedure for such?

Most states require that someone who has not held active licensure or practiced nursing recently” must re-demonstrate competency before they can be granted a license. Exact requirements will depend on the state. Demonstrating competency usually means either completing a refresher course or re-sitting for the NCLEX.

Do I need to retake the NCLEX?

I am on similar situation, but with New Jersey Board. I took and passed my nclex last Nov 2007. I have been told last year I do need to resit for my exams through email and phone, but when I called again this time that I am already in the US, the customer rep said she doesn't know. Only the board can tell, but its taking them forever to respond or update my case. I am worried I have to retake the exams. Any update on your case?

Did you got your license...

Hi,

Yes, I requested a copy from the Board of Nursing. The ironic thing is, shortly after I sent the request, I found a digital copy of my NCLEX result in my email inbox. :D

Hi guys, i am on thesame situation. And need your help as well on how you did it. I passed the nclex 2009 and never got my license as i dont have any sss to provide. I am currently working as a registered nurse in Australia and has done a Nursing bachelors degree here graduated 2016. I rang the operator and they just said i have to resit it. Which i was told the nclex never expires... Im moving to the states permanently and would want to get any requirements done via Australia and Philippines before i leave rather than come back.:( I still have a copy of my nclex letter that i passed requesting an sss for the license to be provided

Hi Guys,

I am in similar situation, cleared my NCLEX in 2007 but through a consultant.  I know I passed the exam but did not get license due to retrogression. I do not have any information to get the license for NCLEX. Can someone provide some information about this?
