Hi all
I am wondering if anyone knows much about occupational health screenings after you have applied to university.
I went for my screening for apu some months ago and was informed the other day I have to go see a docter which apu has arranged for me. The only thing i was informed of when i met the nurse was that i'd need to have my jabs done which i am in the process of having done i.e heb b and making sure the others are upto date
Well the letter informing me of my appointment has given me no information and im worried sick as to why id have to see a the occupational health dr. Is this normal procedure? I've rang the department several times in the past few days trying to speak to someone with no luck. The nurse always calls at awkward times and im getting fed up of the calls being when i am out or when someone is on the phone. Hope someone can help as to why id be needing to see a dr.
I have come to the conclusion it is either for my hearing or my ataxia.
Thanks for reading

I am sure it is nothing to worry about but just a check that things are ok with you and that you feel able to do the study and placements. Once qualified it is normal to have a occ health screen prior to commencing a job and they usually have the final say before you recieve a job acceptance offer.
Good luck
Thank you for your quick reply silver.
It was a bit of a unexpected shock to see a letter out of the blue that had arranged an appointment without my knowledge, Im one of those who likes to know everything that is happening , I do wish I had been told that I may need to see a Occupational health Dr then i probably wouldnt have worried so much.
Thanks again

I recently joined the nurse bank at my local hospital to keep my hand in working at ward level as I don't get much chance nowa days. I had a letter from Occi health to ask me to see the Dr. It turned out that it was because I had shown up as a Latex sensitivity and he wanted to check out that I knew.
It may be something really simple and nothing to worry about. They probably just want to clarify something on your health questionaire

you should have been notified on the referral to OH, I would just mention it when you go as it may have just been missed about letting you know. Again I am sure there is nothing to worry about but keep us posted
