Does anyone know of any free training/education?

I am entering nursing school this fall, and I want to have a bit of knowledge prior to entering. I have absolutely no medical background, so everything is completely new (I was an education major). I was going to enroll in a CNA class that starts in May, but it's not going to work out. The class starts at 4pm, and I don't get out of work until 4:30 or 5pm, then I'd have a 25 minute drive to the school. Anyway, I found one class I can take. It's a 6 week medical terminology intro course offered online at my college for $80. However, I would like to get a bit more information/education/training before fall 2006. Does anyone know of any organizations or websites that offer cheap or free training? Or even if you just know of a book that is really informative, I'd appreciate it if you'd let me know. I just want to go in with as much experience as possible because a lot of my classmates are already working in the healthcare field, so I don't want to be the one with no prior knowledge. I'd rather be able to assist others with no experience than receive that same assistance myself. Thanks so much for your input.

I wouldn't stress about it too much. You and your classmates will all be in RN school and learning how to be an RN all at the same time. Whether or not you know how to do a B/P wont' really matter as that is what learning lab is for. The medical terminology class may help you feel more comfortable when the acronyms start flying around! Best of luck to you in your studies!
