I've seen talk concerning experienced nurses being placed on an alternate list, in which they have to wait for an opening to get into the Air Force. I was wondering if new grad nurses may potentially be placed in an alternate list?

Also, does anyone know how many new grads the Air Force is looking to take for this spring board?

I don't believe numbers have been released for how many nurses the Air Force wants to take for this Fiscal year. This includes experienced nurses and new grads alike. As I'm sure you may be aware, the Air Force is struggling with budgets and boards for this year have been postponed numerous times and even cancelled all together at one point but then re-opened. I feel that they are being extremely selective this year but I haven't noticed a pattern of any specific qualifications they are looking for. However, there are rumors they may do away with the nurse transition program (NTP) for new graduates. Only time will tell! I am part of the boards that are supposed to take place in March but at this point it can easily change. My recruiter is working on finding out numbers for how many applicants there are for this board, how many nurses they actually need, and how many will be placed on an alternate list. I'll be sure to provide info when I get it!
