I am located in Metro IL/St. Louis Missouri and I'm interested in the accelerated nursing program offered at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE). I graduated from SIUE in Aug 2009 with my BA. Apparently, I have a few pre-reqs for nursing already completed with the BA, but the ones I haven't completed are:
Anatomy & Physiology I and II
Microbiology
Lifespan
Chemistry
The community college nearest me (Lewis and Clark Community college) is already booked for anatomy and physiology. It would have cost me way cheaper to get in THERE (about $466 for A&P I) but they are all closed up for Spring 2011. The next closest cc has space available, BUT it's across the river in Missouri and I'll have to pay way more (seriously....like $779 for A&P I) because I'll be a "non-resident" and have to pay applicable tuition rates.
My question (finally...lol) is this: Do my Anatomy & Physiology I and II classes need to be taken at the same university? That is, if the pricier place is the only place open for A&P I but I can get into A&PII in Fall 2011 at the closer, cheaper cc, is that "ok"?
God I hope someone could follow this LOL

For your A&P question: It depends on what is covered in the I and II classes. Also, check to see what your comm coll has for summer school. Although my CC does not have any A&P classes during the summer, the nearby university has an accelerated A&P I&II over the summer. Just a thought. Find out what each class covers and if they are complementary, go for it.

Didn't matter for my ABSN program. When I was taking my prerequisites, A&P 1 was full at my CC and the Chairman of the Biology department refused to sign a waiver to let me in. I didn't give up and found one open spot left at another CC, 20 mins away. They used a different book. When I took A&P 2 at my original CC, we started at the Endocrine System (which is where we stopped at for A&P1).
My prerequisites are split between 3 different schools. As long as my program received all the official transcripts, it wasn't a problem.
Does your school have waivers for students who were closed out of a course but found that same course available at a different college? This waiver prevents students from paying "non-resident" fees. I was able to get the waiver for A&P 1 and didn't have to pay those fees. So, I was able to get the same price as if I was a resident in their county. I would inquire about it Enrollment Services at your CC.
