Do case managers make more than social workers?

Published

How much do each make and is there really a big difference in what they do? I wanted a job where i can help people mentally, emotionally and physically but i also want to make decent money around 40,000- 50,000..It's not a lot but would able me to pay for bills and maybe even travel once or twice a year hopefully. I wanted to do nursing but i am not sure if i will be good with the math and science. I am a sophomore in college and 19 by the way!

Hi, i guess it depends. I work in case management and our case managers are nurses

and are pretty much making 45 an hour. Most hospitals now a days require a nursing degree for

case management. I advise you to take nursing and do case management. I was the only

one in my department that was not a nurse and i'm working on it now and i only wish i had done it sooner. Good luck and go for it.

so is that around 30,000 annually?

LISW's have enormous earning potential. Contact an advisor at your school to hash this out...

thanks i actually heard about this. whats the difference between lisw and lcsw?

Specializes in pediatrics, public health.

No, $45/hr is more like $90,000/yr (there are approximately 2000 work hours in a year if you work full time).

You should be aware that both salaries and cost of living vary a lot from one state or city to another, so you have to be careful when people tell you their salaries over the internet -- unless they happen to live near you, the information may be almost irrelevant. You can get a rough idea of salaries in your area from sites like salary.com, or ask people in your area if they mind telling you or at least giving you a ball park number on what they make.

oh wow thanks and my math is horrible hahaha i need to work on simple things like that. and okay thank you i will check out the site!

i think i am leaning towards lcsw..i need to see what they make.
